8 May 2024: Monster Darkus and swing rate are now precisely measured for around 87% of the beasts found in the lands (722/828). The measurement of Atkus training required to hit a monster with a well-timed swing has been calculated for 83% of the beasts found in the lands (687/828). Histia has been fairly decently estimated (within 20%) for 47% of beasts in the lands (387/828). All the monsters in the April season "Bookfort" have now been added into the bestiary.
Spoiler warning: The information contained in the bestiary is considered a spoiler by some. This is a complete bestiary of the creatures found in the Lok'Groton island chain from the MMORPG Clan Lord.
Recent major news:
- The bestiary should be complete, with all regularly-spawning monsters. Please let me know if you find anything that spawns outside of GM invasions that I do not have on the list.
- Bestiary creature strengths range from OK estimates (Atkus to hit, creature Darkus, creature health) to mediocre estimates (defense required to brick). I appreciate updates to the numbers if they are off by more than about 20 percent, particularly if it is a monster that I have noted down that its strengths have been measured.
This site was created by, and is maintained by, HWC Org du Lac. I would like to give special thanks to Noivad for hosting the bestiary for years and keeping everything running, and to Leinis, Geotzou, and Gorvbot for help with making the bestiary quantitative. Also thanks over the years to Worf, Shakyamuni, Kalian, Himitsu, ShadowEarth, Drablak, Kani, Mork, Biro, the maintainers of Puddleopedia, and everyone else who has helped over the years.
A few key points you may want to read before going on:
- The overall organization is categorized by Ranger families. Some pages contain multiple families, which are separated by a line on the page itself, and by a different bold heading in the main bestiary page. These creatures are not related as far as Rangers are concerned, but I consider them taxonomically related. (i.e. There is no family bonus at all between different BOLD headings.)
- The creature's "experience level" is based off of how much it costs to stuff that creature for a trophy. Some creatures are not stuffable (insubstantial undine) or the level is estimated (no trophy costs under 200c). This "experience level" correlates closely with the slaughter/dispatch/kill/vanquish level of the monster, with some exceptions. Thanks much to Leinis who did the vast majority of collection for this statistic.
- Rough estimates are provided of the Atkus required to hit a creature with proper timing, defense (Detha + Balthus training) to brick consistently, the rough Darkus trained by the creature (divide by 10 for how much Histia is taken per hit), the monster's average number of frames between swings (divide by 5 for swings per second) and the rough amount of health the creature has. These numbers are generally reasonably accurate. Defense required to brick is less accurate, especially for monsters above around 1800 defense-to-brick.
- Live sketches are available for each creature in the bestiary. These can be viewed by clicking on the image of the creature.
- See the help section for more information.
- The Puddleopedia's bestiary has some information not contained here, relating to story and the history of the creature (when available), rather than the practical hunting and day-to-day information contained here. The bestiary there is mostly complete, and it offers a contrast to this hunt-oriented bestiary.
